Forest Fox is an online website focused on creating a positive space for the mystical, magical and spiritual person. Here users learn and share experiences with other like-minded people. The web-based platform intends to venture into the mobile space with a palm held for of their website.

The app will take users on a journey through facets of the mystical and magic with soft colors and feminine illustrations. The company is looking for an upgrade of their logo and branding. The new branding will be transferred to their website to unify their platforms.

This product needed to be started from scratch and I felt it was important to spend a good amount of time researching. I took the position of product-strategist to create a list of features, ideas and business information from each of the competitors. This list was essential to my process of designing the application.

Competitive Analysis

To fully create the prototype to look and feel like a true app, I decided to design icons, illustrations and backgrounds. This gave the app structure and the brand quality I was looking for.

  • Digitally sketching out my logo ideas, I wanted one which would be able to stand alone, without the text.

  • The font choice needed to be clearly written and have a feminine, mystical quality to it.

  • The colors needed to reflect the business’ themes of quirkiness, magical and playfulness.

  • Being able to have the logo in color creates a versatile product.

  • This illustration, font and color works the best for the company. The font is readable, fun and unique. The illustration can work independently and with the font. The color purple is regal, feminine and mystical, while the green is earthy and grounding.

  • Emperess Card

    This card depicts a woman surrounded by nature. She represents Mother Nature, fertility, complete love, harmony and grace. Crowned with stars she is connected to the mystical realm.

  • Moon Card

    The Moon card has a heavy duality. It represents a human’s animalistic nature - one which is civilized and one which is wild.

  • Sun Card

    This card represents optimism and fulfillment, innocence, energy, and life. It depicts the dawn which follows the darkest of the night.

  • Star Card

    The Star Card is a symbol of spiritual and practical abilities, strength of thought, and nourishment.
